Spiritual Sewing

June 29, 2011

A group of approximately 8 to 10 women meets every Wednesday morning at West End for fellowship and Spiritual Sewing.  On a mission of love and compassion for the local community, the women have made 10 lap robes, 3 walker caddies, and 14 catheter bag covers for residents of local nursing homes, and 10 book totes for Elephants Fork Elementary School forming in March.  Members have donated sewing machines, fabric, other sewing materials, talent and time to the cause.

On June 29, Reverend Irby accompanied the group to Nansemond Pointe nursing home to deliver some of its finished products and then joined them for a farewell lunch.  Seen below are  Cheryl Taylor, Skip and Chris Irby, Angie White, Molly Crow, Cheryl Sawyer, Barbara Jenkins, Peggy Luter, and Carol Webb .  Missing are Sylvia Pond, Mary Kiger, Beryl Hale and summer helper Madeline Robinson.
